An Act of Dog

Artist Mark Barone painted 5,500 dog portraits as a visual record of the number of shelter dogs euthanized every year in the United States. The 12” X 12” oil on canvas portraits, which took five years to complete, were displayed at one time and also featured by many well-known news outlets. 

But now the portraits are being stored, their beauty and meaning hidden away. According to the website, “Right now, 5,500 forgotten souls sit alone in a cold, dark storage locker wondering if their lives ever mattered.” We can help bring them back to the light of day by joining what Mark calls a private collectors circle.
